2022 already and February right around the corner, feels like 2020 was just yesterday, but after another year of global madness here we are! There’s lots of new things on the horizon for the Existence Community this year, new projects, new servers, and the 6th anniversary of our community.

This year the focus is once again community. With the 2nd Community Server in the works, and continuing to bring players together with shared interests in Minecraft and more.

Looking back on 2021

Last year was a strange year for the community and it’s members, the start of 2021 was a rough one with some internal conflict resulting in a separation of players and groups. Repercussions of this were felt right throughout the year with reduced activity and engagement, but we kept striving forward and made it through.

2021 became a very busy year for all, with real life commitments and the on-going pandemic taking its toll on everyone. Finding balance between Existence & existence has always been a struggle for members and admins alike, last year tested that for everyone but it never fails to amaze how committed some people are to taking part within the community.

We ended things on a high note, with the conclusion of the first Community Server and opening of Project Amplified. Things are looking up for 2022.

Project Amplified

Starting December last year, Project Amplified will continue to run into early 2022 while development of the second Community Server wraps up. Minecraft 1.18 was a huge change to the Minecraft world and gameplay, Amplified took that to the next level! It’s been great seeing so many people engage with the project and enjoy the new aspects of the Caves and Cliffs update Part 2.

Aspects of Project Amplified will be used to aid development of the next Community Server with discussion taking place within Patron-Only chats before being put to the rest of the community.

Community Server 2

The second Community Server is right around the corner, after recent discussions and voting by community members, we have decided to wait until ~March 20th to open the next world - Inline with the 6th anniversary of Existence SMP. The “delayed” opening will give us plenty of time to revamp the community and enjoy Project Amplified for a bit longer, letting players start refreshed and excited for a new world!

Development is being consulted with patrons prior to being shared with other members. The server will take aspects from both Community Server 1 and Project Amplified, with the main element being the change of world, updated server assets such as webpages and rules, and branding changes; Currently pursuing a green colour scheme the same as the original season 2 from 2017.

Making 2022 a better year, and a better community

On a personal note from me, mcpeachpies, 2021 was a strange year for our Community. We started things off not the best, with mistakes made from myself and other parties. I’m working on rebuilding bridges and am glad to see open arms from some old friends. 2022 is a time for us to come together again and revisit what everyone loves about Existence SMP.

With ItsPurpleJay leading the way, I’m looking forward to the 3rd Reunion UHC this year, featuring a range to all legacy members from the original Existence SMP series.

There’s been expressed interest in a number of Projects servers, such as Project Create and Project Hardcore. I’m onboard to see what we can do with these over the next 12 months.
